The Shedding is an intense and experimental performance by contortionist Elise Reine, bringing the audience into close proximity with the performer. The work revolves around transformation, major life changes, and the search for a love that extends to death. Centered on the artist’s body, the performance combines circus, performance art, theatre, and dance while examining the sexualization of the contortionist and romanticized portrayals of violence against women.
The program is divided into two parts: Kl. 20.00-21.00: The Shedding, followed by Kl. 21.00-2.00: GORY, GOOEY & GRUESOME HORROR NIGHT PARTY. Concept and performer: Elise Bjerkelund Reine, text: Kajsa Bohlin, and scenography, lighting & sound: Hjalmar Nilsson. The event is presented in collaboration with Femi Festival and takes place at Dynamo - Workspace for circus & performing arts.
