Aria is Brandts' new video installation on the 4th floor – an intimate work exploring the encounter between two people through music and sound. The musical soundscape guides the viewer into an emotionally rich universe filled with love, powerlessness, and depth.
The work examines the tension between physical and mental worlds and reflects on the quiet exhaustion and alienation that characterize our time. The installation creates a space where the boundaries between time, reality, and fantasy dissolve – a place where seeing and being seen becomes a matter of negotiation.
The title borrows from the Italian word for "air," but also references opera's classical genre: the aria – the emotionally charged solo song that often marks the climax of a performance. The exhibition draws on opera's melodramatic tradition and expressive emotional moments, where time comes to a standstill and feelings become tangible.
