How do personal stories, conversations and archives become works of art? Visual artist Stine Marie Jacobsen invites you to a lecture on her decade-long work with participatory and socially engaged art.
Jacobsen works with people, conversations and real situations as artistic practice. She focuses on how we tell, remember and share experiences – especially when different forms of knowledge and stories meet. Through the art project Direct Approach (2012-), she develops situations where people gather around difficult, personal or unresolved questions.
In her practice, conversation becomes more than the exchange of information – it becomes a space to examine relationships, conflicts, power dynamics and perspectives. The goal is not to find a single truth or resolve conflicts, but to create room for multiple stories to coexist.
Jacobsen (b. 1977) is a conceptual artist who develops long-term projects in interdisciplinary collaboration with researchers, lawyers, political actors and others.
