Meet one of today's sharpest and most influential writers when Zadie Smith is interviewed live from the Queen's Hall in the Black Diamond. The interview is streamed directly to Dalum Library, where you can experience this rare opportunity to hear about her award-winning authorship.
The occasion is Smith receiving the H.C. Andersen Literary Prize 2026 – and the visit marks one of her rare stays in Denmark. The British author is renowned for her sharp and humorous eye on multicultural societies, where identity is shaped by race, class, and origin. She blends personal narratives with broader social critique – from Britain's class system to our dependence on social media and powerful tech companies.
Since her debut with White Teeth in 2000, Smith has made a profound mark on the global literary scene. She achieves a rare combination of intellectual depth, witty tone, and human empathy – and her works span widely: from novels and essays to short stories, dramaturgy, debate, and children's literature.
