An evening of song dedicated to the themes of peace and freedom through the folk high school songbook repertoire. The program explores both quiet songs about peace and reconciliation as well as powerful songs about hope, courage and longing for freedom.
The history of the songs spans from classic works such as Nordahl Grieg's Kringsatt av fiender, Poul Henningsen's Man binder os på mund og hånd and Johan Ottosen's Det haver så nyligen regnet — songs born during difficult times that became gathering places for people dreaming of peace and freedom. Through collective singing, hope was kept alive and community was strengthened.
The program's contemporary songs, including Halfdan Rasmussen's Noget om helte, Benny Andersen's Mørkets sang and Anne Vad's Frihedens lysdøgn, explore freedom in today's world — in our thoughts, in language and in the possibility of being ourselves while simultaneously being part of a larger community. The songs remind us that peace and freedom are both a heritage we must cherish and a responsibility we must continually uphold.
The event is presented by musicians Peter Nørskov Jørgensen and Birgitte Hjelm Paulsen among others. During the break, guests can enjoy coffee, tea and cake. Arranged in collaboration with Ubberud-Ravnebjerg churches. Free admission.
