Danish Fiddle Quartet presents new Nordic chamber folk – a compelling fusion of classical tradition and folk music. A string quartet framework explores both genres, featuring violinists Jørgen Dickmeiss and Ditte Fromseier Hockings (both established names on the Danish and international folk music scene) alongside Bruno Sanches on viola and Mathilde Helding on cello from the young Danish classical elite.
The program blends original compositions, arrangements of Carl Nielsen and traditional folk melodies. The classical string quartet boundaries occasionally dissolve when the two violinists switch to mandolin and guitar, singing in two-part harmony. Critics particularly praise the two songs "Nattens fred" and "Nattens favn", sung by Ditte and Jørgen, as well as the closing "Læsehesten".
The concert is part of Resonator Festival 2026 – a three-day music festival in Odense, where curiosity, community and discovery are central.
