The Canadian musician has been a major name on the international blues scene since his 1988 debut and has released 21 studio albums. His debut album Colin James became the fastest-selling album in Canadian history, and the song Just Came Back reached No. 3 on the American Billboard chart.
Colin James is known as both a guitarist and singer, and his style ranges from traditional downhome blues to jump, swing, and more rock-oriented blues, including work with Little Big Band. He has collaborated with artists such as Keith Richards, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Bonnie Raitt, Lucinda Williams, Robert Cray, Mavis Staples, Buddy Guy, Santana, and Jeff Healey.
