A thrilling and atmospheric walk for the whole family through Odense's streets, where H.C. Andersen's fairy tales and folkloric creatures come to life. Together you'll unravel the mystery of why the River Spirit has become angry and threatens to flood the city.
During the tour you'll meet various supernatural figures from H.C. Andersen's world – river maidens, will-o'-the-wisps and bog hags – and learn about old folk beliefs. Experienced storytellers from H.C. Andersen Paraden share vivid narratives, supplemented by knowledge from H.C. Andersen's House.
The walk starts at H.C. Andersen's Childhood Home on Munkemøllestræde 3-5 in Odense C, where each family receives a lantern. You set off when dusk falls, at a leisurely pace covering approximately 1 km, ending at the washplace near The Noble Maidens' Convent. Everyone can keep up, and the event is supported by the H.C. Andersen Foundation.
